Water is the life-supporting and master element around which everything else is centered. Consequently, the approach we take in Permaculture design is to harness the water source. By creating passive pathways through the landscape, we increase the water’s path and its interaction with all the important elements in our systems before it leaves the property. Using our designs, we aim to slow, spread, sink, and store it on a broader scale, and to manage this resource as well
The concept of ‘waste’ does not exist for us. In order to eliminate waste, we identify where leaks often occur in systems and how we can minimize them. Our aim is to find ways of integrating these resources back into our systems so that there are no losses within them. Composting, nutrient cycling, and grey and black water management are included in this process.
